The differences with modern day dogs and the original breeding is immense. This the case with many, if not all breeds. The late nineteen and early twenty century Irish Terriers still had some of the characteristics of the ‘real micks’. I would guess up to the early nineteen sixties. However fashions change.
Clearly the original breeding, as a working dog, is the real Irish but to revert back I doubt!
I have used a pair of Irish Terrier bitches , who automatically worked one side of a hedge and the other the other side………without any training. In the early sixties.

    Hello Lucy,
I had the pleasure of meeting you last Sunday in Regents Park and I would love to upload a photo of Rafferty as you suggested. Problem is I don’t know how. I can’t see a link but maybe I have to request the Newsletter first.
I did purchase two calendars though and look forward to receiving them.
I loved reading your tales of Xmas! What a story!
Ive signed on now so maybe now I can keep in touch.
    Kind regards,
    Lyn Botwood
